This rare Generation IV Dodge Viper ACR is extremely fun and rewarding driver that will make you embarrassed why you even considered anything else in the first place. Massive horsepower and torque will force your head into thick comfortably bolstered sports seats while the 2g peak cornering will try to twist it off in the other. Don’t tell anyone but the ACR is mostly a friendly beast. World class components and engineering creates high levels of mechanical and aerodynamic grip. 600hp/560ft-lb torque runs through the one of the worlds best transmission and differentials—Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission TR6060 and GKN ViscoLok speed-sensing limited-slip differential. The tall gearing and one of the best diffs ever made… it just hooks up. The normally aspirated V10 is a wave of power and torque not a turbocharged snap oversteer nightmare. First rate KW suspension, quick steering and longish wheelbase keeps the handling neutral and predictable. You grow into this car. It’s just you, a big fat V10, a stick, and grip galore. It’s fun, engaging and special at street legal speeds as well. The quick steering, wave of torque and Tremec manual ensures it. Drive it…love it.

The ACR suspension includes coil-over racing dampers from KW Suspensions that are adjustable for damping and ride height. The shocks are two-way adjustable without removing the wheels – a timesaver on the track – and they include a large range for compression and rebound. The KW dampers and forks are machined from solid aluminum billet, feature spherical bearing mounts, and are optimized to minimize weight and maximize performance. A new front stabilizer bar increased roll-stiffness.

Lightweight forged aluminum Sidewinder wheels were optimized by using Finite Element Analysis to achieve a lower rotating unsprung mass. Finished in gloss black paint.

Weight-savings were achieved with Sidewinder lightweight wheels, and StopTech brake rotors. With the aerodynamic and suspension elements, the 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR is 40 pounds lighter than the Viper SRT10 coupe.

StopTech two-piece, slotted, lightweight rotors combine with the Viper SRT10’s Brembo calipers to reduce rotating inertia and unsprung mass, improve brake cooling, and significantly reduce fade even under extreme conditions. The StopTech rotors feature a patented curved-fin design, a key element in improving brake cooling. The StopTech brake rotors combined with the Sidewinder lightweight wheels combine to reduce 60 pounds of unsprung, rotating mass. The 2010 Dodge SRT10 Viper ACR stops from 60 mph in less than 100 feet.
The two-piece intake manifold combines cast aluminum lower with smooth runners for better air flow, bolted to a die-cast aluminum upper plenum. A revised air-cleaner box with a low-restriction filter sends air through a dual electronic throttle control into the intake module.

The air-fuel mixture in the cylinders is ignited by platinum-tip spark plugs fired by individual plug coils mounted on the cylinder-head covers.

Within the cylinders, pistons are equipped with large-diameter floating pins with bronze bushings for high-load capability. Forged powder-metal connecting rods are secured with aircraft-quality fasteners for increased fatigue strength. Engine lubrication is managed by the large oil pump and a swinging oil pickup adapted from Viper competition engines, to ensure proper oil pressure in high-rpm and hard cornering conditions.

The Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission (model TR6060) conveys power via a GKN ViscoLok speed-sensing limited-slip differential.iper American Club Racer. 8.4-liter V-10 engine that now made 600 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque with extensive revisions to the cylinder head, including variable valve timing and twin throttle bodies. A new six-speed Tremec manual gearbox, revised suspension, a limited-slip differential and other improvements began to shift the Viper’s focus from a high-powered toy to a more focused performance car. To emphasize this point, a higher performance Viper ACR set a Nürburging lap record before Dodge announced it would kill the car in 2010
The front splitter includes three removable rub strips that provide protection and wear resistance. Supported by stainless steel tension cables, the splitter is designed to absorb the energy from minor upward deflections.

Aerodynamics are tuned to maximize downforce and provide increased levels of lateral grip. Each Viper SRT10 ACR also includes a track extension that replaces the center splitter rub strip and fills out the fanged splitter scallop for closed-circuit events. The aerodynamic effect of the track extension is a reduction in overall drag and an increase in front downforce of nearly one third.

Longitudinal front engine, rear-wheel drive layout. Made from a backbone tubular space frame with separate cowl structure. SMC and RIM body panels, aluminum sills, RIM front and rear fascias with composite impact beams. In front, aerodynamic effects include a carbon fiber ‘fanged’ splitter with rub strips; splitter extension; and carbon dive planes. In back is a carbon fiber ACR wing with 7-position adjustable stanchions. Downforce at 150 mph with the high downforce setup was 1,000 lb in 2010.

The suspension was fully independent with high-performance aluminum control arms and knuckles, and KW Suspensions 2-way adjustable competition coil-over shock absorbers. In front, they used cast-aluminum unequal-length upper and lower “A” arms, high rate coil springs, and gas charged 2-way adjustable monotube shocks absorbers, and a high rate stabilizer bar. In the rear, they used cast-aluminum unequal-length upper and lower “A” arms, toe-control links, high rate coil springs, gas charged 2-way adjustable monotube shock absorbers, and a stabilizer bar.

The GT-R Black Edition features a number of aesthetic upgrades, including custom red and black Recaro heated and leather-appointed seats, red and black interior trim and a dark headliner. There is a handmade, dry-carbon fiber rear wing on this model as well. Special metallic black six-spoke RAYS lightweight wheels round out the upgrades.

From Nissan:
-565-hp twin-turbo V6 may be massive in strength, yet it’s highly refined, even earning ULEV-II emissions rating. Rather than traditional cast-iron liners, each cylinder features a unique plasma coating on cylinder walls, with an independent intake system for each bank of cylinders. The powerful twin turbo takes advantage of a Premium Midship (PM) design for balance, where much of the engine sits back in the chassis. Uniquely brilliant, built to perform.

-Two clutches, no clutch pedal. The GT-R 6-speed sequential dual-clutch transmission shifts as quickly as 0.15 seconds when in R-Mode. Inside are separate clutches for the odd and even gears. When in an odd-numbered gear, the adjacent even-numbered gear is “pre-selected,” ready to make the shift immediately. Then, to achieve ideal front-to-rear weight distribution, the GT-R clutches, transmission and transfer case are mounted in the rear of the chassis, creating the world’s first independent rear transaxle for an All-Wheel Drive vehicle.

-Instead of the traditional 50/50 torque split between front and rear axles, GT-R’s electronically controlled All-Wheel Drive system provides nearly all of the available torque to the rear wheels, and can send up to 50% of torque to the front wheels. This provides the steering feel and response of a rear-wheel vehicle, while giving the added confidence that only AWD can offer.

-Most stability control systems cut engine power or apply the brakes when they sense a loss of control. That’s fine for the road, but slow going in competition conditions. While cornering with the advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system in R-Mode, it actually sends more power to the appropriate wheels when it senses oversteer or understeer, helping to keep it on the steered course, a much quicker way to go in track conditions.

-The GT-R has massive 15.4″ front rotors and 15.0″ rear rotors designed to shed high speeds, so they can easily tame a long downhill run. As the brakes heat up, unique “floating disc” rotors expand freely from their hubs. Diamond-pattern ventilation inside each disc rapidly extract heat and ducting in the wheel wells sweep it away.
